• Support Your State Parks - Illinois has one of the few state park systems left that does not charge for use. Many states have an annual pass system, which issues window sticker for a small fee, most ranging between $15.00 and $20.00. • Jersey Boys at the La Salle Theatre – The Oak Lawn Park District is offering a trip to see Jersey Boys at the La Salle Theatre in Chicago on Wednesday, December 17. Jersey Boys is the story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. This show features such hit songs as "Sherry,” "Big Girls Don't Cry,” "Rag Doll,” "Oh, What a Night" and "Can't Take My Eyes off of You.” Seats will be located in the Front Mezzaine. The wheelchair accessible motorcoach bus will depart the Oak View Center, 4625 W. 110th St., at 12:30 pm and return at 5:30 pm. • Teen trip to see the Chicago Wolves – The Oak Lawn Park District is offering a teen trip to the The Allstate Arena to watch the Chicago Wolves take on the Houston Aeros on Sunday, January 11. Bus will depart the Oak Lawn Park District at 4pm. This trip is open to those ages 12 - 18. Fee for this trip is $49. Fee includes transportation, admission, mini-bobble head, complimentary tickets to another game, hot dog and soda. Please bring additional money for snacks and souvenirs. • Skate with Santa - Santa is coming to the Oak Lawn Ice Arena (9320 S. Kenton Ave.) on Sunday, December 21 from 1:20 – 2:50 pm. There will time to skate with Santa as well as an opportunity to have your picture taken with him. CMT Productions will provide music for this special event. • Sunburst Tubing Trip - Join the Oak Lawn Park District and teens from neighboring park districts for a trip to Sunburst Ski Resort in Kewaskum, Wisconsin on Tuesday, December 30. Participants will enjoy 3 hours of fun in the snow. Water resistant clothing, hat, gloves and boots are recommended also bring a dry set of clothes for the ride home. Fee for this trip is $50 per participant. A waiver must be signed. Bring a sack lunch or money to purchase lunch. Bus will depart at 10 am and return at 7 pm. Registration deadline is December 21. • Holiday Break Fun Camp — The Oak Lawn Park District is offering a new Holiday Break Fun Camp on Monday, December 22 & 29 and Tuesday, December 23 & 30. The camp will be held at the Oak View Center (4625 W. 110th St.) from 9am – 3pm. Each day a holiday craft will be made, a holiday movie will be shown and group activities and games will be played. On Monday, December 29 there will be a field trip to the Racquet, Fitness and Gymnastics Center. On Tuesday, December 30 there will be a field trip to the Ice Arena. Transportation for both field trips will be provided. Each child should bring a sack lunch and a beverage and should wear comfortable clothes and gym shoes. Participants can sign up for one, two, three or all four camp sessions. Fee for each session is $30 for Oak Lawn residents and $42 for non-residents. Registration deadline is Monday, December 15. • Casting Call: Funny Girl auditions to be held in Oak Lawn - The Oak Lawn Park District Theatre group has announced a casting call for its upcoming production of Funny girl. Auditions will be held Monday, January 5 and Tuesday, January 6 from 7:30 – 10:30 pm. Come in proper attire and be prepared to sing and dance. Auditions will be held at the Oak View Center, 4625 W. 110th Street and are open to those in high school (with proper ID) & older. Funny Girl will run for two consecutive weekends, March 13 – 15 and March 20 - 22. Tickets for the March production are available at the Oak View Center. • Woodfield Mall & IKEA Trip – Join the Oak Lawn Park District as we head back to the original IKEA and Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg on Tuesday, January 13. Enjoy a day of shopping at this 3-story mall and then hop onboard the free trolley and head to the other exciting stores on the way over to IKEA. Lunch is on your own. The wheelchair accessible motorcoach bus will depart the Community Pavilion, 9401 S. Oak Park Ave., at 10am and return at 5pm. Fee for this trip is $20 for Oak Lawn residents and $30 non-residents. • Sullivan Park Redevelopment Plan – The Oak Lawn Park District is seeking resident input on the redevelopment of Sullivan Park, which is located at 99th and Kostner. The proposed concept plan can be viewed on our website at www.olparks.com/sullivan_park_renovation.htm. This plan will be submitted to the Department of Natural Resources as part of a grant application. Any comments, ideas or concerns may be emailed to info@olparks.com or webmaster@olparks.com.
• Massage Therapy at the Community Pavilion - Sandra Coffey is available by appointment only. Massage therapy is used to reduce stress, increase circulation and detoxify overexerted muscles. • Paper Recycling – Help the Oak Lawn Park District and the environment. Paper recycling bins are located at the Oak View Center at 4625 W. 110th Street, Oak Lawn Ice arena at 9320 S. • Pirouettes Gymnastics Birthday Parties - Fun is the theme for Oak Lawn Park District’s Pirouettes Gymnastics Birthday Parties at the Racquet, Fitness and Gymnastics Center (10444 S. Central Ave.). Kids love the Obstacle Courses, Gymnastics Equipment, Tumble Tramp and Foam Pit. Children of all ages are welcome for one hour of gymnastics instruction and games followed by one half-hour of treats and opening gifts (you provide the treats). Children should wear gym clothes. Reserve your party by calling the Pirouettes Gymnastics Department at (708) 857-2215. This is a great opportunity for scout troops trying to earn their tumbling badges. You may also add a ½ hour of climbing time on our 40 foot horizontal Rock Wall or add time on to the party room for an additional charge. (Max time added to party is ½ hour additional time must be added when scheduling your party with the gymnastics party
