• Stony Creek Clubhouse is opening for the season Monday, March 21st. Stop in for lunch and dinner.

• Recipes for Recreation – The Oak Lawn Park District is looking for easy and healthy recipes to be published in the upcoming summer park district program guide. Email recipes with your contact information to recipes@olparks.com by March 15th. Become a fan on Facebook!


• Dog Park – The New Dog Park located at 99th and Moody will open this spring, but memberships are available now for purchase! Memberships can be purchased at the Oak View Center located at 4625 W. 110th St. and at the Community Pavilion located at 9401 S. • Memorial Bricks – Memorial bricks are available for purchase for the New Dog Park at 99th and Moody. Memorial bricks are $75 each. For more information or to download an order form, visit www.olparks.com.


• Friday Night Fish Fry— The Oak Lawn Park District’s Stony Creek Clubhouse, located at 5850 W. 103rd St., will be hosting a Friday Night Fish Fry every Friday evening from 5 – 8 pm through April 22. The all-you-can-eat buffet will feature Dixie crunch white fish, Corona battered cod, vegetables, double baked potato casserole, salad and fresh rolls with butter. Cost for the buffet is $10.99 for adults and $5.99 for children 10 and under. A shrimp dinner and a baked tilapia dinner will also be available for $14.99. Beverages are extra. • Kiddie Krayons & Stories – The Oak Lawn Park District is another session of Kiddie Krayons and Stories beginning the week of March 21. This program is designed for children ages 2 ½ - 3 ½ and helps develop and foster creativity. Classes are held at the Oak View Center (4625 W. 110th St.) and meet twice per week. • The Eyes Have It — The Oak Lawn Park District is offering a class that focuses on the eyes on Tuesday, March 22 from 7 – 8:15 pm at the Oak View Center (4625 W. 110th St). You will learn how to eliminate dark circles and puffy eyes as well as how to properly apply eye makeup. This class is open to those ages 18 and up. Fee is $25. • Spring Break Activities - The Oak Lawn Park District is offering several activities during Spring Break for kids in grades K-8. On Tuesday, March 22 is Flower Pot Decorating from 3-4:30 pm. Fee is $8 for Oak Lawn residents and $10 for non-residents. On Wednesday, March 23 is Let’s Go to the Movies from 3-5 pm. Kids will watch movies and enjoy popcorn. Fee is $2 for Oak Lawn residents and $3 for non-residents. On Thursday, March 24 is Spring Gingerbread House Decorating from 1-2:30 pm. Fee is $18 for Oak Lawn residents and $20 for non-residents. • French Language Classes For All Ages - The Oak Lawn Park District is offering French language programs for all ages and skill levels beginning the week of March 21. Classes include: Bonjour Mommy French Program, which is designed for those age 3-4 accompanied parent or caregiver, Les Rouges French Program for those age 5-10 and “French Club” or ”Conversational French” for those ages 14 and up. • Cityscapes - The Oak Lawn Park District is offering another fun Cityscapes excursion on Thursday, March 24. This time we will be heading to Geneva, IL. Visit unique shops and restaurants in this quaint town. Fee for each trip is $14 for Oak Lawn residents and $16 for non-residents, which includes transportation. • Organizing Your Digital Photos – The Oak Lawn Park District is offering a class to help you organize your digital photos using a program called Memory Manager on Tuesday, March 29 from 6:30-8:00 pm. Debbie Fleming, a Creative Memories Consultant, will show you how easy and affordable it is to use this software. Handouts and step-by-step directions will be provided. Fee is $15. • Once Upon a Time… Stories and Crafts – The Oak Lawn Park District is offering Once Upon a Time… Stories and Crafts for children ages 4-7. Children will hear a new story every week and create a craft project that goes along with the theme of the story. Classes will be held at the Oak View Center (4625 W. 110th St.) on Thursdays, March 31-May 15 from 6:30 – 7:30 pm. Fee is $32 for Oak Lawn residents and $44 for non-residents. • Digital Storybooks - The Oak Lawn Park District is offering a Digital Storybook class on Tuesday, March 29 from 8:00 – 9:30 pm at the Oak View Center (4625 W. 110th St). Debbie Fleming, a Creative Memories Consultant, will show you how to use Storybook Creator Plus software to turn your photos into a keepsake book for yourself and your family. • Potawatomi Bingo/Casino Trip – The registration deadline has been extended for the Oak Lawn Park District’s trip to the Potawatomi Casino. Enjoy a day of fun with over 3100 slot machines and brand new tables on Wednesday, March 30. The motorcoach bus will depart the Community Pavilion(9401 S. Oak Park Ave.) at 8:30 am and return at 6:30 pm. Fee for this trip is $48 for Oak Lawn residents and $58 non-residents and includes $10 slot play and a free buffett lunch. • Double the Divas Trip – The Oak Lawn Park District is hosting a trip to see Double the Divas at the Starved Rock Lodge in Utica, IL on Monday, April 11. Enjoy a buffet lunch and performance by Sheri Winkelman who portrays both Marilyn Monroe and Connie Frances. The motorcoach bus will depart the Community Pavilion(9401 S. Oak Park Ave.) at 9 am and return at 5 pm. Fee for this trip is $70 for Oak Lawn residents and $80 non-residents and includes buffett lunch, show and transportation. • Casting Call: Sugar auditions to be held in Oak Lawn—The Oak Lawn Park District Theatre group has announced a casting call for its upcoming production of Sugar (Some Like It Hot). Auditions will be held Sunday, April 3 from 6 – 9:30 pm and Monday, April 4 from 7:30-10:30 pm. Come in proper attire and be prepared to sing a song from the show. Auditions will be held at the Oak View Center, 4625 W. 110th Street and are open to those in high school (with proper ID) & older. Sugar (Some Like It Hot) will run for two consecutive weekends, June 3 - 5 and June 10 - 12.


• Rubber-Stamping Workshop - Learn the easy art of rubber-stamping at the Oak Lawn Park District. The next workshop will be held on Tuesday, April 12 from 7 – 9:30 pm at the Oak View Center (4625 W. 110th St). Participants will complete several projects, including greeting cards using various techniques. Please bring your own colored pencils and scissors. Workshops are open to those ages 18 and up. • Oak Lawn Park District Summer Softball – Open registration is underway for all Oak Lawn Park District Summer Softball Leagues. Leagues include Men’s 12-in., Women’s 16-in, Co-Rec. 16-in. and Men’s 16-in. All games will be played at Centennial Park, 93rd St. & Oak Park Ave. Games will begin the week of May 1. Fee for each team is $585. Leagues are open to adults 18 and older. New team registration begins March 5. Registration deadline for all teams is April 22. • Before & After School With FLASH – FLASH, Fun & Learning After School Hours - Register now for the 2011/2012 school year. The Oak Lawn Park District has partnered up with School District 123 and is in all 5 elementary schools, Covington, Hannum, Hometown, Kolmar, & Sward. The park district has also partnered up with School District 122 and their 4 elementary schools, Columbus Manor, Harnew, Kolb, & Lieb. • Community Pavilion Main Arena Rental - Attention high schools, colleges and businesses: Have your special event with us! The Oak Lawn Park District’s Community Pavilion is available for rentals. The arena measures 28,000 sq. ft. and can seat up to 1,000 people at tables and chairs, or 3,500 with chairs only. Reservations must be made at least six months in advance with 50% down. Payment is non-refundable after 90 days. Contact the assistant manager at (708) 857-2420 or pavilion@olparks.com.


• Indoor Playground at the Community Pavilion - The indoor playground is now available for parties: Playground rental is $45 per hour with a max of 25 children. Rental includes tables and chairs. Renter is responsible for all party decorations and refreshments (no confetti please). Add a basketball court for $20 per hour for residents and $40 per hour for non-residents. Rent a Jump House for $25. Call 708-857-2420 for more information about daily fees and party package prices.


• Massage Therapy at the Community Pavilion - Sandra Coffey is available by appointment only. Massage therapy is used to reduce stress, increase circulation and detoxify overexerted muscles. Open to men and women. A parent or guardian must accompany children under age 12. There is a 24-hour cancellation policy. To schedule a massage, call 708/857-2420.


• Personal Training at the Community Pavilion - Meet with a certified Personal Trainer who will design a program to improve your cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength and endurance. • Parent Forum & Support Group for Parents of Children with Disabilities – The Oak Lawn Park District’s Special Recreation Department offers a monthly Parent Forum & Support Group for Parents of Children with Disabilities the third Thursday of every month at the Oak View Center, 4625 W. 110th St., beginning at 7 pm. Come out once a month to discuss, review, and suggest new ideas or program strategies. Also, meet other parents of children with disabilities.
